Thursday was a quiet one at the Valley with only one varsity sports team in action. The Boys Soccer team was looking to go 2-0 against Tenafly and defend their number four ranking in the county.
Boys Soccer:
Pascack Valley 1, Tenafly 0
After a dominating home opener against Teaneck to start the season, the Pascack Valley Boys Soccer teams faced a tougher test in Tenafly on Thursday Night.
Either way, the Indians passed with flying colors, defeating Tenafly to improve their record to 2-0.
Late in the first half, with the game still scoreless, Senior Gavin Keenan was able to rip one past the Tenafly goalie, giving the Indians a 1-0 lead.
As the second half wore on, the physicality and intensity picked up on both sides. Tenafly was trying desperately to tie the game but Valley just wouldn't let that happen. Blake Ruzich was solid again, making a number of saves and pitching his 2nd shutout in as many starts.
With a solid defense and a goalie like Ruzich, there isn't any reason why the Indians can't continue their winning ways.
Record: 2-0
Next Game: Saturday, September 15th at 11:15 AM against Old Tappan at Pascack Valley High School.
