Daily Recap: Wednesday, September 12th

When it came to sports, Wednesday was all about the females. Girls Volleyball, Tennis, and Soccer were all in action with the soccer team playing their home opener under the lights. Lets see how the girls performed.

Girls Soccer:

Tenafly 1, Pascack Valley 0

After an easy game against Teaneck to start the season, Pascack Valley faced a serious test in a game against Tenafly.

This was the home opener for the Indians and they were hoping to make their loyal fans proud.

Unfortunately, Pascack Valley couldn't pull this one out, losing a tough game 1-0. During the first 20 minutes of the contest, the Indians dominated possession, having multiple opportunities to strike first. With about 15 minutes left in the half, Tenafly was able to clear the ball and earn a 1-1 situation down the field. The girl from Tenafly made one move and was able to put one into the back of the net, forcing the home team into a surprising hole.

During the second half, Valley continued to receive shots on goal, but could not score the equalizer to salvage their home opener. With high expectations coming into the season, the girls have to be disappointed  with the result of only their second game of the season.

Lucky for them, this is an experienced squad who will learn from their mistakes and make the most out of the rest of the season.

Record: 1-1

Next Game: Saturday, September 15th at 2 PM against Old Tappan (Away)

Girls Volleyball

After a devastating injury to Senior standout Kimberly Yoo, Pascack Valley was able to increase their record to 3-0 by defeating Tenafly in straight sets.

Yoo, who is regarded as one of the best and most experienced players on the team, might be out for the entire season. That being said, the Indians couldn't pout and had to move on with what they had.

As long as underclassman such as Olivia Beattie and Jenny Schneider step up, this team is going to be just fine going forward.

Record: 3-0

Next Game: Friday, September 14th at 5:30 PM against Old Tappan (Away)

Girls Tennis:

The girls had a tough day on Wednesday afternoon, losing most of the varsity matches they played.

The girls can only learn from this experience and hope to improve each and every day from this point forward.

Next Match: Friday, September 14th at 4:15 PM against Old Tappan (Away)
