Pascack Valley Sports: Weekend Recap

Friday marked the first day of Fall sports in the Valley and our teams sure did not let us down. If one game was any indication of what is to come, volleyball and football are going to have very successful seasons.

Football:

Pascack Valley 42, Clifton 0 (Friday)

Big things are expected from the Pascack Valley football team this season and Friday was the first step. After an offseason of scrutiny from Coach Craig Nielsen, the Indians responded and showed everyone why they are the 5th best team in the county by defeating Clifton easily 42-0.

On only the second play of the game, Quarterback Kyle Schneider hooked up with Kevin Illian for a 73 yard touchdown to make it 7-0 only a minute into the game.

Kyle Zenk added two more touchdowns to make it 21-0, still with 2 minutes left in the first quarter. The rain and lightning then began to fall, delaying the game for about 45 minutes. Valley was still able to come out sharp and dominated the second quarter, leaving the score at halftime 28-0.

By the time the game had ended, Pascack Valley was a 42-0 victor and a team with plenty of confidence.

Although the game was a bit of a hike, the fans from Valley came by the bunches, cheering the Indians on until the final whistle.

This was a good start for Pascack Valley, who will look to continue their success in their home opener next week against Old Tappan.
