Daily Recap: Thursday, September 20th

Thursday brought plenty of question marks for Pascack Valley sports. Would Girls Soccer be able to respond after two straight losses? Would Ben Malone come in first once again? Lets dive in to how it all went down.

Girls Soccer:

Pascack Valley 1, Bergenfield 1

Though not the result they were hoping for, the Indians have to be content in tying Bergenfield 1-1 on Thursday afternoon.

Pascack Valley had lost two straight coming into this game so a result like this should be able to revive their confidence.

Pascack Valley took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by Junior Rachel Kearney. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough for the Indians.

Bergenfield ended up tying the game in the second, forcing the game into overtime. The girls had many chances to put the game away, but were unable to do so.

It wasn't the best case scenario for Pascack Valley, but hopefully this result will start this team on the right track.

Record: 1-2-1

Next Game: Saturday, September 22nd at 2 PM against Holy Angles (Away)

Boys Cross Country:

Boss Cross Country was unable to defeat Demarest on Thursday afternoon. Although somewhat of a disappointment, Ben Malone placed first for the Indians with a time of 17:19.

Next Match: Tuesday, October 2nd at 4:30 PM against Old Tappan (Garrett Mountain Reservation)

Girls Cross Country:

Girls Cross Country came close but could not defeat Demarest, losing 23-34 (lower score wins).

Bessie Zavidow put in a solid effort for the Indians, placing second. The problem for the Indians was that their 3rd runner placed 7th and their 4th runner placed 10th.

In the end, Demarest took 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 8th and Pascack Valley took 2nd, 4th, 7th, 10th and 11th.

Next Match: Tuesday, October 2nd at 4:30 PM against Old Tappan (Garrett Mountain Reservation)
