Daily Recap: Wednesday, September 19th

Wednesday marked a successful day in the Valley. Boys Soccer, Volleyball, and Girls Tennis all picked up wins against Bergenfield. After the long holiday weekend, all sports teams came out focused and ready to play.

Boys Soccer:

Pascack Valley 3, Bergenfield 2

After a 1-0 loss to Old Tappan on Saturday, Pascack Valley looked to get back on track against a solid Bergenfield team.

However, the game didn't start out the way the Indians wanted. Bergenfield took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half and carried the lead into halftime.

Something must have clicked for the Indians at the break because they came out ready to play. Eight minutes into the second half, Matt Giovatto tied the game on a pass from Senior Kieran Walsh.

Three minutes later, it was Walsh's turn to do the scoring, putting one into the back of the net and giving the Indians a 2-1 lead.

The game seemed in control for the Indians until Bergenfield's Walter Nolasco tied the game at 2 with only 8 minutes to play. Less than 30 seconds later, Pascack Valley retook the lead 3-2 on a beautiful goal from Junior Chris Jackson.

In the end, Pascack Valley was able to hold on 3-2, gaining a much needed win after a tough loss only a couple days earlier. With a loss now behind them, the Indians look primed to continue their winning ways and contend for a league title.

Record: 3-1

Next Game: Monday, September 24th at 7 PM against Indian Hills (Home)

Girls Volleyball:

Pascack Valley defeats Bergenfield 25-17, 23-25, 25-16

This was a good bounce back win for the Indians after losing to Old Tappan in straight sets on Friday afternoon.

Pascack Valley dominated the first set, winning easily 25-17. Although it seemed as though they would cruise in straight sets, some questionable officiating left the second set wide open for both teams.

Bergenfield took advantage of the opportunity, taking the second set 25-23 and making the third set a must win for the Indians.

The girls could have just given up after a tough second set, but came together to take the game 25-16 and the match two games to one.

Now 4-1 in league play, Pascack Valley needs to be recognized a team to beat for the rest of the season.

Record: 4-1

Next Game: Friday, September 21st at 5:30 PM against Holy Angels (Away)

Girls Tennis:

Girls Tennis dominated Bergenfield by winning all 5 matches on the varsity level. This seems like a team ready to make the next step and string a couple of wins together.

Next Match: Saturday, September 22nd at 10 AM against Holy Angels (Away)

Gymnastics:
