What a great day to be an Indian! Even if the weather wasn’t
great, Pascack Valley sports teams dominated the competition from the Lacrosse
field to the Golf Course. Let’s see how they all did it.
__________
Baseball:
Pascack Valley 12, Teaneck 6
During the first inning against Teaneck, one of their
players blasted a two run home run over the fence and trotted around the bases.
After an 11-2 loss on Monday afternoon at the hands of
Demarest in the season opener, this was not the start Pascack Valley was
looking for.
Teaneck ended up scoring 3 runs in the inning off Ryan
MacNaughton and put the Indians in an early hole.
From that point on, Pascack Valley dominated Teaneck en
route to a 12-6 victory. The bats came alive as Pascack Valley was able to add
a couple of runs each inning to keep Teaneck out of reach.
Juniors Ryan MacNaughton and Ryan Orr led the offense by
each hitting home runs.
Ryan MacNaughton also did damage on the mound. He went 5
innings and picked up the first win of the season for Pascack Valley.
The season didn’t get off to the best start so this was
certainly a big step in the right direction.
With a roster full of talent and inexperience, the best is
certainly yet to come.
Record: 1-1
Next Game: Friday,
April 5th at 4:15 PM against Tenafly (Away)
_________
Softball:
Pascack Valley 7, Teaneck 0
Jenny Schneider is only a sophomore.
In her first varsity start, she pitched a complete game shut
out and led the Indians to a 7-0 victory over Teaneck.
Schneider was superb from start to finish. She controlled
the game while only giving up two hits and walking two.
However, the super sophomore doesn’t deserve all the credit.
The Pascack Valley bats came alive on Wednesday afternoon, scoring 7 runs on a
plethora of hits.
Christina DiBella went 3-4 and Rachel Squiccimarri had two
doubles and two RBI’s.
Record: 1-1
Next Game:
Thursday, April 4th at 4:15 PM against Holy Angels (Away)
_____________
Boys Lacrosse:
Pascack Valley 15, Demarest 4
Pascack Valley continued their hot start to the season with
a 15-4 blowout win against Demarest.
The game never seemed to be in reach. Senior Mike Buldo
Liccardi scored 3 of his 4 goals in the first period, giving Valley a 5-0 lead
after the opening quarter.
The Indians scored five more in the second to take a
demanding 10-1 lead into halftime.
After a couple of quick goals in the third, the game was
essentially over.
Mike Buldo Liccardi led the Indians in scoring with 4 goals.
Nick Soravilla, Kevin Illian, and Zach Beja each recorded a hat trick.
With two cupcakes to start the season, Pascack Valley has
its first real test on Saturday against Northern Highlands. This will determine
whom the Indians are and if they are in position to compete for a 2nd
straight league title.
Something tells me this team is up for the challenge.
Record: 2-0
Next Game: Saturday,
April 6th at 1 PM against Northern Highlands (Home)

Tennis:
Pascack Valley 5, Teaneck 0
No one likes to be rained out.
That is what happened on Monday afternoon, the day Tennis
was supposed to have its first game.
Instead, Pascack Valley had their opener today and dominated
Teaneck from top to bottom.
In first singles, Felipe Duran won 6-0, 6-0.
In second singles, Senior Zach Granat won 6-0, 6-0.
This was a terrific way to start the season for Pascack
Valley.
Even if it was a couple of days late.
Record: 1-0
Next Game: Friday,
April 5th at 4:15 PM against Tenafly (Away)
___________
Golf:
Pascack Valley 167, Bergenfield 219
Pascack Valley Golf had no trouble handling Bergenfield on
Wednesday afternoon.
Although the weather was not the best (40 degrees and 30
mph), the Indians were able to get the job done.
Will Gallagher shot a 40, Sam Reich shot a 45, Jack
Gallagher shot a 45, Pat Clancy shot a 44, Kevin Sinisi shot a 44, and Sam
Komrower shot a 39.
Record: 2-1
Next Match: Thursday,
April 4th at 4 PM against Paramus (River Vale Golf Course)
